Embellish Your Bathroom with Wallpaper
When I say the word wallpaper to my clients, they immediately cringe and hope that I’m joking. I’m not joking people! Wallpaper has come a long way from the wallpaper in your great grandma’s kitchen! A major design trend for 2021 — and one of my favorites — is to embellish small spaces with wallpaper. Keep reading for tips on choosing the right pattern, my favorite online wallpaper sources, and some inspo pics straight from my clients’ homes. They are now lovers of wallpaper, and if you give it a try, I bet you will be too!
If this is your first foray into the world of wallpaper, or if you’re a seasoned pro, a powder bathroom is the perfect spot to go bold! Because the square footage of the wall space in a powder bathroom is typically pretty small, it’s a smaller commitment but an opportunity for some major fun. If you’re feeling really bold, you can choose an accent color in the wallpaper pattern and paint your vanity to match!
If you want to wallpaper a larger bathroom like the main bedroom en suite, you definitely do not have to commit to doing the entire space. I like to pick a feature wall like the wall behind the vanity or the wall you see right when you enter the space. If your bathroom gets particularly steamy, you want to make sure you use a wallpaper that will hold up to all that moisture.
If you’re looking for some bold prints and beautiful accents, my go to shops are Graham & Brown (Timepiece Amethyst, Above Left) and Anthropologie (Rifle Paper Co. Peacock, Above Right). For a good DIY, don’t rule out peel and stick wallpaper! Target (Herringbone Stripe Peel & Stick, Above Center) has some really great options that are super on trend! Plus, it is repositionable so if you mess up, you can always fix it!
